Fertility Preservation

We offer a fertility preservation service to protect and preserve your fertility for the future.

Some women, especially those in a well set career, may consider fertility preservation because their age is advancing, but they are not ready or able to have a baby right now. More and more women have been approaching our clinic for this fascinating technique. With the advent of vitrification and extremely successful freezing techniques, the survival of frozen eggs, sperm and embryos is close to 99%. As a result, egg freezing becomes a real and extremely successful method for freezing your fertility in time! The recent American guidelines clearly state that the best age for elective / social egg freezing is between 28-32 years. Of course, women who are beyond this age can also opt for egg freezing after appropriate counselling about success rates, realistic expectations and the possibility of requiring several rounds of ovarian stimulation to accumulate adequate number of eggs.

Fertility preservation and egg freezing are also a boon for young women with a serious illness such as cancer, where the treatment modalities such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiation will surely damage the eggs. The same holds true for men with testicular / other cancers necessitating radio or chemo therapy (sperms should be frozen before they begin their cancer treatment).

If you are considering fertility preservation, you should first discuss your situation with your doctor, as well as your motivations, i.e. planned medical treatments or an intentional delay in commencing a family. Your doctor can then determine the most effective options for your individual situation. He may also ask for a TVS scan to assess the antral follicles (egg reserve) and a simple blood test called Anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) to estimate your ovarian reserve and prognosis (chances of retrieving healthy oocytes).

For young women, these options include freezing of eggs, freezing of embryos, freezing of ovarian tissue.

For young men the options include freezing sperm and freezing of testicular tissue.

It is important to discuss your personal circumstances, and decide whether accessing the fertility preservation service is right for you. Other options may be available – such as: donor insemination, if you're ready to start a family straight away, or using donor eggs in the future if your own ovarian function is likely to be lost.

If your AMH level is low, he may advise some supplements of Coenzyme Q, Resveratrol, testosterone, etc prior to the egg retrieval

For young women, these options include freezing of eggs, freezing of embryos, freezing of ovarian tissue.

For young men the options include freezing sperm and freezing of testicular tissue.

It is important to discuss your personal circumstances, and decide whether accessing the fertility preservation service is right for you. Our counsellors will help you through this journey to decide the perfect path.
